Character Counts With God

Scripture Reference: Job 2:1-3
Verse of Concentration: Job 2:3 (NLT)

Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed by servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless-a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil. And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause.”

In this passage of scripture it appears as if God is

foregoing His plan for His servant Job and going with Satan’s plan; and in a way He is. God is allowing Satan to test Job, because God knows the end of Job’s story. Satan tested Job and made him suffer greatly. Job didn’t know why he was going through such great struggle, which created some questions for God.

We to go through trials, tribulations, and seasons of great struggle, not understanding that God…sometimes permits the problem because He is the solution. He is not necessarily punishing us, but perfecting us. God is actively and always creating character in us. He will use everyday occurrences or an extreme situation such as Job’s, to give us distinguishing features or characteristics.

Character is important to God, as is your inward appearance by which He judges us. We spend a lot of time on our outward appearance. We should spend even more time on our inward man since that is what is important to God.

FOCUS: Take steps to improve your inward man, renewing it through the Word of God.
