Follow Me

Scripture Reference: Mark 8:34-35

Verse of Concentration: Mark 8:34 MSG

Calling the crowd to join his disciples, Jesus said “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I AM. Don’t run from suffering…but embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how”.

When Jesus actually spoke these words, He wasn’t just giving us a prescription for getting into heaven; but He was telling us how to live a superior life, right here on earth. For there is a good life that we can live right here, right now! But to get involved in it, we truly have to lay aside the way of life that most of us are accustomed to, and let go of the very things we’ve been trying so hard to latch onto. Instead, we must set our hearts on doing what God wants done and the way He wants it done! And we do this by “following Him…and His way”!

He goes on by telling us that “self help is no help at all; but self-sacrifice is the way…His way, to saving ourselves…our true self! For what good is it to obtain everything we want to then turn around and lose our souls? It’s time to realize that getting saved is not something that’s allotted to us just so we miss hell, but our purpose is to please God, by following Him. Lay down our lives in order to fulfill His desires. To be His special possessions in the earth, and to do whatever He tells us to do. Our priority is to give ourselves to Him and to live in fellowship with Him, by spending time with Him, so that we can hear his voice and respond with immediate obedience.

New Normal: Don’t run from what God is trying to complete or fulfill in your life…embrace it! He leads us into green pastures, still waters and a life of righteous and fruitful living! He says “just trust me…Follow Me”!
